Just as an FYI - there are many good soundtracks to musical/movies, but I don't count them as a soundtrack.

Footloose - Best ever!
Dirty Dancing I & II (not the second movie, but the second part of the soundtrack - sold separately)
Snatch
O' Brother Where Are Thou?
The Crow

Runner Up: Garden State
Also, an infinite list of 80s movies...

tough question. one of these is an original score rather than a soundtrack, but i think it's exceptional.

Magnolia
O Brother Where Art Thou?
A Hard Day's Night
Cinema Paradiso
The Royal Tenenbaums

I agree with Lexi about musicals.

If the Blues Brothers counted, it would be far and away the best, but I'm throwing it under the "musical" category

1. Swingers
2. O Brother where art thou?
3. Pulp Fiction
4. Ocean's Eleven
5. Wayne's World
