Top 5 Concept Albums

It’s been a little while since I posted a new top 5, but out of a recommendation from my friend John, I bring you the Top 5 concept album list.

Now I know, some will vary on what they believe is a concept album, but general definition is an album that is unified by a single theme. I am sure this will be all over the place, but let’s have some fun with it.

Here are my Top 5 concept albums.

1. David Bowie – The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

2. Neutral Milk Hotel – In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

3. Pink Floyd – The Wall
4. The Who – Quadrophenia
5. The Flaming Lips – Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots

Put your top 5 in the comments section.

In no particular order:

In the Aeroplane... - Neutral Milk Hotel

David Bowie - Rise/Fall Ziggy Stardust...

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper (not a huge Beatles fan, nor do I think that this is their best album, but definitely needs mentioned)

The Downward Spiral - Nine Inch Nails (the suicide of a man)

Rain Dogs - Tom Waits (down and out people in the city)

OK, i looked up a list of concept albums and picked my faves. If you would like to contend that a few might not be concept albums that's fine, although the more I think about it, the more I realize they really are.

Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3

Muse - Absolution

QOTSA - Songs for the Deaf

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

Janet Jackson - The Velvet Rope (I know!)
