I guess I'll go first this time...

100 Club – Round 2

#1 Rolling Stones – She’s a Rainbow
vs.
#9 Echo & The Bunnymen – The Killing Moon

Well, since I still don't like The Stones and this is a pretty damn good song, representing some of the best that Britain had to offer in the late '80s, the edge goes to The Killing Moon. The Bunnymen manages to dodge those Rolling Stones for a victory.

#4 Black Sabbath – War Pigs
vs.
#5 Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart

Wow, the birth of metal versus the infancy of goth. But to call Joy Division goth is just plain wrong. This is an f'in' amazing song that has inspired hundreds of wannabes, both good and bad. In a close one, Ian slays Ozzy. Victory to Love Will Tear Us Apart.

#3 The Animals – We Gotta Get Out Of This Place
vs.
#6 Neutral Milk Hotel – Holland, 1945

These are good songs, but one of the weakest matchups in this round of the tourney. Who seeded The Clash and The Jam in the same bracket anyway??? The edge goes to Eric Burden and his Animals. Winner: We Gotta Get Out of This Place.

#2 Bob Dylan – Like A Rolling Stone
vs.
#7 Blondie – Heart of Glass

Hmmm, yet another tough choice. Dylan, who is a songwriting god, or my favorite coked-out new wave queen? Sorry Debby, but I think Bob's pot-infused genius trumps your coke-fueled mania. Winner: Like A Rolling Stone.

CBGBs – 2nd Round

#1 The Clash – London Calling
vs.
#8 The Jam – Town Called Malice

I'll day it again. Who the F*** put The Jam and The Clash in the same bracket, dammit? I refuse to vote on this one as a matter of principal. BOTH songs should go on to the next round.

#4 The Pixies – Debaser
vs.
#5 The Kinks – You Really Got Me

Since Paul Weller and co. will probably go down in the aforementioned matchup, I'm throwing my weight behind Weller's songwriting inspiration, Ray Davies. You Really Got ME goin'!

#3 Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody
vs.
#6 Pink Floyd – Fearless

Brian May's mini rock opera takes on an ethereal Floyd tune. Freddie's falsetto trumps Roger Waters' brooding guitars. Victory to Bohemian Rhapsody. Time to do the fandango.

#2 The Ramones – Blitzkreig Bop
vs.
#7 Guns N’ Roses – Welcome to the Jungle

Another F-in ridiculous matchup. But Hey Ho, Axl Rose has gots to go. Winner: Blitzkrieg Bop.

This isn't going to get any easier, is it??

A lightning round eh?

#9 Echo & The Bunnymen – The Killing Moon over #1 Rolling Stones – She’s a Rainbow. I'm going with the upset. There are probably only two other records in my collection that has been worn out more than Ocean Rain, and they are Sgt. Pepper and Doolittle. Had Mick and the boys rolled with Honkey Tonk Man or Gimme Shelter, the pick might have gone the other way. But, I doubt that. Winner: Echo.

#4 Black Sabbath – War Pigs over #5 Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart. DUH DUH..... DUH DUH DUHHHHHHH DUHHHHHHH. DUH DUH. BA-BLICKEM, BA-BLICKEM, BA-BLICKEM. DUH DUH..... DUH DUH DUHHHHHHH DUHHHHHHH. Winner: Sabbath.

#6 Neutral Milk Hotel – Holland, 1945 over #3 The Animals – We Gotta Get Out Of This Place. You know, I am such a sucker for fuzz bass that the Animals never had a chance. Nevermind that I think they bring the weak sauce with that track. Winner: Neutral Milk Hotel.

#2 Bob Dylan – Like A Rolling Stone over #7 Blondie – Heart of Glass. I had to go to the videos to make my decision on this one. It was the harmonica neck-holder-thingy that put it over the top for me. Winner: Dylan.

CBGBs – 2nd Round

#1 The Clash – London Calling over #8 The Jam – Town Called Malice. Sorry Paul Weller, I voted for you before, but you do not stand a chance here. Shit, I may have gone with B.A.D. over the Jam if you picked In My Dreams as the track. Winner: The Clash.

#4 The Pixies – Debaser over #5 The Kinks – You Really Got Me. Do I have to provide an explanation here? Winner: Pixies.

#6 Pink Floyd – Fearless over #3 Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody. I have a guitar hero. His name is David Gilmour. Queen did not have a chance here for me. Winner: Floyd.

#2 The Ramones – Blitzkreig Bop over #7 Guns N’ Roses – Welcome to the Jungle. My 3 year old rocks out to the Ramones on his guitar bi-weekly, and my daughter can sing it. Winner: The Ramones.

Rolling Stones - the classics win out

Black Sabbath - Joy Division cannot stand up to the generals gathering their masses.

Neutral Milk - tough break for the animals. great song, but Holland 1945 is like the 2008 Stephan Curry of this tourny, it just creates match up problems for any opponent.

Dylan - Blondie puts up a valiant effort, but yeah...it's Dylan.

cbgb

The Clash - they roll on easily. Strong favorites moving forward.

The Pixies - another tough one. its hard to put two greats of different generations up against each other.

Pink Floyd - benfiting from facing a bad seeded song in Queen.

Ramones - in maybe the toughest decision to date. Both songs are staples of their era. Both gave birth to countless imitation attempts, and both involve long balck hair hanging over their eyes. In the end, the Ramones win for writing one of the catchiest simple songs in history and for not being douche bags by working on a mediocore album for 10 years.
