#16 Young Folks - I've never been a big fan of the Stones (overrated and they've dragged on for far too long). Plus that darn whistle just gets in your head.

#2 Like a Rolling Stone - The better Rolling Stone of this countdown. Dylan is god.

#14 Love My Way - The Furs are awesome on this track. The Animals are one of the few representations on the chart of true '60s protest rock, but I'm a sucker for my '80s college radio.

#13 Parklife - War Pigs, you never stood a chance against a perfect piece of Britpop. Had it been Iron Man, then maybe we would have had to talk...

#5 Love Will Tear Us Apart - This song put The Hacienda on the map. Can you deny it it's rightful place in history? Joy Division created a new, seminal sound with this tune. Hundreds have tried to copy it and have failed. Beirut only wishes they could be as awesome as Ian and co.

#6 Holland 1945 - I'll take a lot of heat for this, but Elliott Smith is whiny and dead. NMH wins easily.

#7 Heart of Glass - I dig the Stone Roses and what they did for music at the turn of the '90s, but Blondie is the coolest New Wave band ever. Debbie Harry's ethereal (we could even say coked up) vocals make this the standout track. A perfect blend of punk, new wave and disco in a truly catchy tune.

#8 Pictures of You - Why, oh why, oh why must these #8/#9 matchups be so darn difficult. I thought about flipping a coin to decide, but I gave a slight edge to The Cure because this song just gets under your skin and permeates into your soul. Plus, Connor really likes it!

#1 Rolling Stones – She’s A Rainbow over #16 Peter Bjorn & John – Young Folks. The old Brits smother the young swedes with awesome before they can even start the whistle solo. No competetion in this matchup.

#2 Bob Dylan – Like A Rolling Stone over #15 The Libertines – Death on the Stairs. The real deal beats out the Clash wannabes in this matchup.

#14 Psychedelic Furs – Love My Way over #3 The Animals – We Gotta Get Out of this Place. In a tough matchup, the Furs edge out the Animals. Had the Animals come with their A game (Don't Let Me be Misunderstood), they might have had a chance.

#4 Black Sabbath – War Pigs over #13 Blur – Parklife. This one went back and forth 'til the very end. However, as much as it hurt me to eliminate blur, I just couldn't stop rockin' out to that bad-ass riff. You did it too. Quit yo boolshittin'.
Duh duh. duh duh dunnnnnn dunnnn. Duh duh. ba-blickem-ba-blickem-ba-blickem, duh duh dunnnn dunnnn.

#5 Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart over #12 Beirut – Postcards from Italy. Mope beats out Hope in this 5 -12 matchup. No upset here.

#6 Neutral Milk Hotel – Holland, 1945 over #11 Elliott Smith – Son of Sam. In quite possibly the greatest, and only matchup of songs written about sociopathic killers (Nazi's vs. David Berkowitz), the Nazi's prevail. This was a very difficult choice for me as I love Elliott Smith (as opposed to Nazis or serial killers).

#10 Stone Roses – I Wanna Be Adored over #7 Blondie – Heart of Glass. Fuck yeah! The Roses! Take that you coked out trollop! No contest.

#9 Echo & The Bunnymen – The Killing Moon over #8 The Cure – Pictures of You. In the Battle of the Hairspray Bottle, Echo comes out on top. This wasn't even a close one, folks. Had Robert smith and the boys come out swinging with a song like "Push", "Inbetween Days" or "10:15 on a Saturday Night", there might have been a different outcome. I can only assume Robert was playing hurt in this one. Too bad.

1 Stones - Not a huge fan, but I suppose that the album Let it Bleed gives them a sentimental edge on this one.

2 Dylan - not even close

14 Physchedelic Furs - for me, the first major upset, though I don't see it as one. As far as I'm concerned, the Animals just gotta get out of this place.

4 Sabbath's War Pigs - I fail to understand how anyone could choose another song over this, it could be a #1. Without Sabbath and War Pigs (1970), there is no metal.

5 Joy Division -- meh.

11 Elliot Smith

7 Blondie - original new wave anyone?

8 Echo - Tough, but in the end, Robert Smith just whines too much

#1 - Rolling Stones. Easiest choice I've ever made in my life. Easier than waking up and saying, "Yeah, I think I'm going to breath air today."

#2 - Libertines - Sorry Dylon. I've just never been a fan.

#3 - We Gotta Get Outta This Place - I don't have too much to say about this.

#4 - WAR PIGS - Jesus, this song could easily be World Fucking Heavy Weight Champion of Bad Motherfukin' Songs. It's a song about war, witches, the Devil and pretty much is the go-to song for power cords. Melts my face with rock.

#5- Holland 1945 - This was a very tough call. A "Sophie's Choice" if there ever was one. In the end, it came down to which song would I rather be trapped on an island with. Forgive me Elliot.

#6 - Blondie - This one was up in the air until I thought to myself, "Oh yeah, this song has one of the badest bass lines of all time." Bum-Buh-Bum-Buh-Bum-Buh-Bum-Buh.

#7 - Killing Moon - Another heartbreaker.
